Since Senate passed the CIR bill last year, is it necessary for the Senate to pass a bill again this year?
If the House manages to pass CIR this year, wouldn't a committee (Senate & House members) meet and chalk of the difference and come to a common ground?
Pending legislation from last year were part of a different congress (house+senate), and all bills from last congress, that failed to become law, expired at the beginning of this year when a new Congress took charge. That's why CIR is being re-introduced in both the house and senate.

Well, that is certainly frustrating! Your best option would be to get in touch with the designated Application Support Center to see if they can either notify the USCIS Service center of the error or have your daughter come in right away for fingerprinting. ASC phone numbers are generally not made public, but in many locations, ASC staff has provided local immigration attorneys with a phone number to use for urgent or unusual situations such as yours.
If you don't have an attorney who can call the ASC for you, you might consider just going to the ASC in person with your daughter to explain the situation and ask for their assistance.

I have been saving for months I am on a fixed income

My wife'e H1B expires on Feb 2007 and she still has not applied for H1B renewal as she was on maternity leave. She will do so in first week of November. It looks like H1B extension process takes more than 3 months. Virginia is one of the states which just gives ur Driver license till ur H1B validity. So her license is valid till feb 2007. Would like to know if she can get her license renewed in Feb 2007 with a H1b receipt number or should she do Premium processing of her H1B. Any help is greatly appreciated.

it's more Marketing rubbish..
certainly it'll be a better 6MP image than before, but it won't have the pure resolution of a 1Ds or 14N.
Dynamic Range will be nice, but doesn't tip it over the edge. Why don't they go bigger in MP? One might ask.... I think they're finding it tough.. Somehow Canon has nailed it. Kodak couldn't.
Interesting times ahead!!

My company wants to transfer me to Europe for 2 yrs. Its a very good opportunity for my career. My I140 approved and 485 is pending. PD March 2006 EB2 India. It wont become current for foreseeable future. I am appplying for 3 yrs of H1B extension.
Can I be outside the US for 2 yrs w/o jeopardizing the GC process. Can I then come back after 2 yrs on stamped H1?
My wife used EAD to work. Can I apply her H4 extension with me and she foregoes her EAD? Will she get H4 status and extension along with my H1?
Can she then come back with me after 2 yrs on H4 and then revert back to EAD to work?
I need to make a decision soon. Any replies will be greatly appreciated!

I've recently filed my 485.
In my labor and I140 I have my job title as ' Data ware house architect'.
My H1 says 'Programmer Analyst'. So while applying my 485 I menationed my current occupation as 'Programmer Analyst', which is different from what my labor and 140 says.Will this create any problem?

Like Tom said, EAD is irrelevant to your studying on parolee status. The only thing is you cannot work during the EAD gap.

Mmm.. here is a wrinkle scenario.. though it does not technically belong here...
I was overseas for a year (posted to another branch of the company, in another country, not my country of origin, for a year), just returned to US.
Would I be considered as "in US" all the time? And would I be considered to be "in US" for the time I was posted abroad?
The reason I'm asking is that given the way this is going with this legislation if if goes through, it might be better to be an "illegal" rather than legal. I see Zero talk about people in our situation (legal nomads).
Let us get to the bottom line.. is this legislation strategically really good for us? Is a "sneak" legislation better for us than a blanket amnesty which equates an illegal hedge pruner to a legal high skilled worker and makes no distinction?
Does it make more sense for us to have this legislation scuttled than face the prospect of seeing your friendly neighbourhood illegal plumber get on the gravy train while you wait and wait? (People like me would be waiting anyway even without this legislation)
I would really appreciate a strategic FAQ: What are we really fighting for here.. what are the likely compromises on the way..
